Review: Mee Rojak

I came across this food once when I was waiting for my friend to withdraw her money at the nearest ATM. I ordered this food since other counters were full with people buying things. So, I decided to try this food, even though I knew it will be the spiciest food I was going to taste.

It took me for about 3 minutes to wait for the order to be sent it to me. And guess what? It's nice! And I was quite full since it was so many, almost one plate full a like a mountain on a plate. I wasn't that hungry, but the food served in front of me, my stomach became so hungry, and I managed to finish it all.

Yeah, the rojak was a bit spicy, and delicious. It contains of the noodles, and few other things such as "tauhu" and so. The cost was about RM4 per plate, but it worths the price, as I went out from the cafeteria with my full stomach. Love it! The Rojak Mee was awesome, hopefully I will have some times in the future to go to the cafeteria again, and eat the rojak mee again. :P

Dr M: I am Not anti-Christian

GEORGE TOWN: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has denied claims that he is trying to stir up anti-Christian sentiments by saying that the Sept 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Centre in New York was staged.

“Many people may think that I am trying to stir up the matter by publicly commenting that the attack on the United States was staged but I am firm with my point of view,” he told reporters after attending a dinner organised by the Penang Medical Practitioners’ Society here Saturday.

The former prime minister said there were groups of people who thought that he was trying to stir anti-Christian sentiments by commenting on the attack at this point of time.

“What do I gain from a publicity stunt? I’m not going to run for Prime Minister again.”

Earlier in his blog Mahathir said that he had watched a three-hour video showing the attack and suggested that the World Trade Centre and surrounding buildings collapsed due to controlled demolition.

“A lot of people in America (the apologists will dismiss them as conspiracy theorists) questioned whether the towers collapsed because the planes crashed into them or that something else caused them to come down.

“These people have reproduced videos taken by media people showing the attack and the collapse of the towers, pointing out certain peculiar features.

“If you have seen the three-hour long video which is widely distributed you would be convince by it.

“People fear of saying anything political on this issue, especially when we are accusing the government of a very powerful country of doing something wrong. Don’t forget they (even) told lies to go to war,” he said.

On another note, Tun Mahathir said Malaysia should not solely depend on foreign direct investments (FDI) and should instead build up its own economy. -- Bernama

Review: Maxis 3G Broadband

Hey, I have been not updating this blog like years and years. Got no time since I moved into this place, plus hard for me to do online thingy since I have no internet connection. We got wireless but it's not stable enough for me to update my blog during the nights when I am at hostel. Only at our college offers good internet connection for me to do online surfing excellently.

So, it's a temptation for me to get a boradband. Every day, when I done with class, there will be promoter from Maxis comes to offer us with their broadband. Some said, it is cheap. RM100 for registration including modem, while the monthly payment will cost about RM78 per month for a 1GB broadband.

For me, 1GB is enough to do my routine in online surfing. As for downloading things, I rarely download things, only if I think I really need it. So now, I think I want to get a Maxis broadband one for myself so that I could easily do my surfing anytime I like. Why Maxis? My friends used other types or broadband which is not comes from Maxis, and they keep on complaining about the signal which is too weak for them to do their normal surfing. Since like my other friends say that Maxis is good here, I think I want to get one Maxis Broadband. :)

Experiences At Jabatan Pendaftaran Negeri Selangor

I went to JPN Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam today's morning. Had my journey started at 8.30am, using Kelisa with uncle, aunt and my sister. Stopped by Mamak shop for breakfast which actually cause my stomach ached.

The journey ended at Plaza Masalam Shah Alam. Where we were actually lost in the building. LOL They actually has moved out to the 6th floor of Plaza Masalam. So, I went in and got my number, and waited not long than 10 minutes. The person who treats me was a man, and he is nice. He explained all the procedures very well, and he is so sweet! :P

Done that, I was asked to go and take photo on the next counter, and guess what, I waited not long that 5 minutes for that. It was super fast!!! :)

I had never been to this kind of place which is really fast in their services. You guys maybe thought that there were not many people, but trust me. Lots of people were there. And I was there for not long than 30 minutes then everything settled.

I am now using my temporary IC, which is big, and ugly! I wonder do I need to bring the temporary big ugly UC here and there while waiting for the permanent IC whenever I go out? OMG!!!

Allah in UMNO's Administration

JAN 7 — The issue of Allah’s name in the Herald has been manipulated by Umno leaders to the hilt .

The way Umno reacted to the issue seems to suggest that Allah is held dearly by Umno leaders. But is Allah really loved by Umno as He is supposed to be loved?

Umno is a great manifestation of those whose actions do not match their verbal expression of loving Allah.

How to express our love to Allah, the Most Exalted? How to gain His love in order to turn it into a mutual one; to ensure that we love Him and He loves us?

Allah says in the Quran: "If you love Allah, then follow me (i.e the Prophet ), Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." (3:31)

This verse indicates that the pious person should express his love to Allah by believing in His Prophet and following the Message, and through obeying the Prophet, abiding by his orders, leaving what he prohibits and obeying all what Allah has revealed to him, because that is the vivid expression of the practical love that fills his whole entity.

Let us imagine if loving Allah becomes the tagline of Umno. Just pause a second to ponder if the Muslim politicians in Umno embrace this policy in their political struggle. Do you think they would ever indulge in gambling activities in whatever forms if they sincerely claim to love Allah?

If Allah is present in Umno’s administration of the state, we have the right to ask which Quranic verse justifies the issuance of gambling licences. When Allah says gambling is an abomination of Satan’s handwork so eschew such (abomination ) that you may prosper (5: 90 ), we want to know do they truly believe and in turn translate it into practice such a vivid command of God? If Allah attributes prosperity by eschewing gambling, we desperately want to know from you —the so-called lovers of Allah — why do you fail to get rid of the gambling business in order to gain the true meaning of prosperity?

Do our present Muslim leaders need to resort to electoral fraud and money politics to secure victory in any election if they really follow the steps of God? Don’t they think that having a free, fair and clean election is also part of God’s teachings?

Allah says in the Quran: “O you who believe, be upright before God, in [fulfilling] what is His due, witnesses in equity, in justice. Let not hatred of a people, namely, the disbelievers, cause you not to be just, and to harm them on account of their enmity; be just, towards both friend and foe, that justice is nearer to God-fearing. And fear God; surely God is aware of what you do, and will requite you for it.” (5: 8 )

This verse commands the true believers to establish justice even to their enemy. Yet what we have in Bolehland is that injustice is happily propagated and administered without feeling any iota of anxiety to Allah’s wrath.

Allah says if you accuse any person of committing adultery or sodomy you must make available four witnesses, failing which you are liable to be punished under the law of Qazaf (false accusation). Do God’s words trigger Umno’s nerves? If they do, do they still want to carry out their evil plot to assassinate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s credibility via unsubstantiated sodomy allegations?

Do Umno leaders, who justify the use of the ISA — a law which allows detention without trial — against their own people, realise that those who love Allah would never ever condone let alone implement this unjust and inhumane law?

Allah’s teachings never tolerate any form of corruption. Allah’s prophet was reported to have said: “The Giver and the Taker (of corruption) are both located in Hell.” Yet in Bagan Pinang a corrupt leader was nominated by a corrupt party to represent (read to corrupt) the people.

Allah says in the Quran: “O Mankind! We have indeed created you from a male and a female, [from] Adam and Eve, and made you nations and tribes that you may come to know one another. Truly the noblest of you in the sight of God is the most God-fearing among you (49: 13).

This verse categorically rejects any form of racial sovereignty. As far as Islam is concerned racial supremacy is a myth. Thus any form of racism cannot be condoned or tolerated.

It is said that this verse was revealed about Bilal (one of companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Bilal was a Negro. When Bilal gave the call to prayer in Mecca after its conquest, a group of men from Quraysh, among whom were Sahl Ibn 'Amr, al-Harth Ibn Hisham and Abu Sufyan Ibn Harb, said: “Did Allah and His Messenger not find anyone to call to prayer except this raven.”

“In response, Allah said: (Lo! We have created you male and female) from Adam and Eve, (and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. Lo! the noblest of you) in the Hereafter, (in the sight of Allah) on the Day of Judgement, (is the best in conduct) in the life of the world; which in this case is Bilal.”

Allah says in the Quran: “O ye who believe! fulfil (all) obligations” (5: 1).

Let us put this to Umno leaders: To whom is this verse directed? Yes, to the believers. And what is the command? Yes, to honour the pledge. Now, is a royalty agreement not part of an obligation which needs to be honoured?

Who is the culprit cajoling Petronas not to fulfil its obligations for the payment of oil royalty to the Kelantan government. Despite the existence of a valid and binding royalty agreement signed by both Petronas and the Kelantan government mandating the former to pay cash payments to the latter, this culprit, without any sense of guilt, happily said the Kelantan has no right to a royalty.

If Umno really loves Allah it must go steps further than merely show its incoherent stand on the publication of Allah’s name in the Herald.

Umno must proclaim its stand loud and clear on many unethical activities or agenda endorsed by the present government. Does Umno love Allah when it lets corrupt leaders hold public office? Does Umno really love Allah when it maintains draconian laws in order to silence dissenters and instil a culture of fears in the people’s minds”

Does Umno really love Allah when it allows all form of hedonistic entertainment to be swallowed by our youths in the name of modernity?

Until and unless Umno can provide convincing answers to the aforementioned queries, we are convinced that its outcry in the Herald fiasco is merely another form of hypocrisy of the first order. And believe me Umno is damned good at this!

To All Christians, Stay Calm...

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 — The Barisan Nasional government is on the damage-control mode, with several ministers being dispatched to placate the Christian community and offer financial and other aid in the wake of arson attacks on three churches in the Klang Valley.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak himself will visit the partially-gutted Metro Tabernacle church, which was the worst affected, in leafy Desa Melawati later today. The Life Chapel in Petaling Jaya suffered scorch marks while the Church of Assumption, the only Roman Catholic church attacked, was undamaged.

Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Idris Jala and Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon yesterday met pastors, Christian groups and visited the three affected churches in an attempt to convince Christians and non-Muslims that the Najib administration is sincere about resolving the Allah controversy amicably.

Church sources told The Malaysian Insider that Koh met Catholic Archbishop Murphy Pakiam, Father Lawrence Andrew and lawyers representing the Catholic Herald on Thursday to find a resolution to the Allah controversy.

The controversy erupted on Dec 31 when the High Court ruled that the Home Ministry's prohibition against the Herald using the word Allah was invalid, thereby allowing the Catholic publication to continue using Allah in national language articles.

Umno politicians and Muslim groups criticised the decision and indulged in sabre-rattling. This muscular and threatening rhetoric culminated in the attacks on three churches, which was unprecedented in Malaysian history.

The police have since fanned out to secure all churches in the country and have warned against demonstrations of any kind for and against the ruling.

Christians have resorted to prayers and vigils in the wake of the attack in churches now under the watch of the police. Some churches in the Klang Valley have cancelled their service due to the tense situation and are hoping for a return to normalcy soon.

Christian groups now hope the government will take further steps to cool the situation and find ways to resolve the touchy subject of the Allah ruling.

The Malaysian Insider understands that the Catholic Church’s position during talks with Koh was clear: it is willing to accept the position before former Home Minister Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar ordered the Herald to stop using the word Allah.

Under the status quo position the publication was allowed to use the word in Bahasa Malaysia articles for its flock of East Malaysian followers.

And while only the Herald is party to the suit which is now before the Court of Appeal, it is clear that Christians in general are also taking the position that the status quo before Syed Hamid's declaration must be returned.

Any prohibition on the use of Allah would result in Malay-language Bibles, imported from Indonesia, for their congregation in Sabah and Sarawak being seized, Christian church leaders believe.

So it appears that even if the Court of Appeal overturns the High Court decision allowing the Herald to use the word Allah in its publication, the current testy relations between the Christians and the state will remain.

Church Attacks & 1Malaysia?

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 9 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia idea suffered a setback yesterday with attacks on three churches stemming from an escalating row over the “Allah” ruling as police stepped up security at Christian houses of worship around the country.

Politicians from both sides of the divide swiftly condemned the firebombings at two churches and an unsuccessful attempt at another in the Klang Valley. Police also dismissed rumours and fears of other church attacks or car-smashing in a tense Kuala Lumpur.

"In just nine months, Najib’s 1 Malaysia slogan is facing its most critical test as its very credibility is at stake," veteran opposition leader Lim Kit Siang said in his first reaction to the firebombings.

Najib's vision of 1 Malaysia is a concept aimed at uniting Malaysians through their common, shared experiences but it has faced internal opposition within the ruling coalition and has been scoffed as another empty slogan by the opposition.

Lim said the attacks went further than just hurting the concept and damaging race and religious relations in the mainly Muslim country.

"Malaysia also cannot afford further adverse international publicity over the ‘Allah’ controversy, which would only aggravate Malaysia’s declining international competitiveness if there is escalation of deplorable incidents by irresponsible and extremist elements like the spate of church attacks," the Ipoh Timur MP pointed out.

His allies in the Pakatan Rakyat opposition bloc laid the blame squarely on Najib's ruling Umno party and Barisan Nasional coalition which the prime minister angrily denied.

While condemning the attacks, Najib reacted sharply to opposition claims that Umno politicians may have exacerbated the situation.

“Don't point fingers at Umno or anyone else,” Najib told reporters. “We have always been very responsible. Don't say this attack is motivated by Umno.”

The attacks demonstrate the fragile nature of race and religious relations in Malaysia, a country of 27 million people with a 64 per cent Muslim majority. In contrast, only 9 per cent are Christians, including 800,000 Catholics.

From another standpoint, the attacks seem to have had a sobering effect on Muslims, many of whom had promised to organise mass demonstrations after Friday prayers. As it turned out, only three protests — mostly mild affairs — were held under watchful police scrutiny.

To their credit, the men in blue reacted swiftly. “Since last night, I have instructed all patrol cars to patrol all church areas,” Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan told Reuters. “We are monitoring all churches.”

He confirmed to reporters that only three churches were attacked in the wee hours yesterday morning — the Metro Tabernacle Church in Ampang, Assumption Church in Petaling Jaya and the Life Chapel, also in Petaling Jaya. Only the Assumption Church is Catholic.

The attack on the Metro Tabernacle Church gutted its administrative office while a Molotov cocktail tossed into the Life Chapel damaged its porch slightly. Meanwhile, the firebomb hurled at the Assumption Church failed to explode.

In addition, a priest at St Francis Xavier, a Catholic church in Petaling Jaya, lodged a police report over a caller threatening to torch the church.

Another pastor was reportedly manhandled by four men later in the night.

What Hadi Says About The Allah Word?

— harakahdaily

Despite of Church Attacks.....

UPDATED
By Adib Zalkapli

HULU SELANGOR, Jan 9 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak claimed today the attack on three churches early yesterday would not affect his 1 Malaysia policy or ideas.

Speaking to some 7,000 Umno supporters here, Najib also reiterated his stand that the Malay nationalist party should not be blamed for the latest religious tension.

"Do not simply blame Umno when there is any problem, when churches were torched, fingers were pointed at Umno. We have condemned the attack," said Najib at the launch of the party's People's Champion programme.

He also said the party leaders and government are serious in handling the matter and want those responsible to be brought to justice.

"Just because one or two churches were attacked 1 Malaysia is said to be under threat. 1 Malaysia will not be in danger," said Najib, referring to his slogan to unite all Malaysians which he introduced soon after taking over the premiership in April last year.

Later at a press conference, Najib told reporters that the majority of Malaysians do not condone the church attacks.

“What is important is the mainstream is on our side, you cannot judge based on the actions of one or two individual,” said Najib when asked on the report yesterday that a priest was manhandled by four men last night.

When asked if the government would invoke the ISA, he only said there are enough laws to deal with the situation.

Najib also confirmed that he would visit the gutted Metro Tabernacle church in Kuala Lumpur later today.

On Dec 31 the Kuala Lumpur High Court ruled that the Home Ministry's prohibition against the Herald weekly using the word Allah was invalid, thereby allowing the Catholic publication to continue using Allah in national language articles.

The ruling resulted in protest by some Muslim groups and reached its peak yesterday with firebomb attacks on three churches near Kuala Lumpur.

The police have since fanned out to secure all churches in the country and have warned against demonstrations of any kind for and against the ruling.

The government has also dispatched Christian members of the administration to calm the Christian community.

But opposition politicians are already saying Najib’s 1 Malaysia idea has suffered a setback because of the attacks which stemmed from an escalating row over the “Allah” ruling.

Najib's vision of 1 Malaysia is a concept aimed at uniting Malaysians through their common, shared experiences but it has faced internal opposition within the ruling coalition and has been scoffed as another empty slogan by the opposition.
